There are so many scholars do research in outback Tibetan students which as a special education policy has beening carried on since1984, such as the first-line teachers and managers in outback Tibetan class, and the pedagogy and the ethnology professional experts, that we can get abundant theoretical achievements. Previous studies focused on the students’ adaptability and policy analysis, few people study the Tibetan students’ learning approach. What the status and characteristics are, and the differences between the regular students and outback Tibetan students. We can find out the answers in this paper.This research sets The Beijing Tibetan middle school as main object, using literature method, the structured interview, questionnaire and observation. We understand the learning approach of Tibetan students through in-depth interview with the students, directors and teachers. In order to make up for the inadequacy of interview method, taking the questionnaire as a supplement. On the basis of the integrated uses of observation, we analyze, from the overall, the current situation and problems of Tibetan students’ learning approach, and differences between regular students.Overall speaking, Tibetan students is given priority to surface learning motivation, the purpose of learning is to access to knowledge, broaden horizons, and prepare for a job in the future. In the learning process, because lacking of study interest and learning motivation, lead to the Tibetan students in shortage of learning enthusiasm. Learning method and strategy, Tibetan students attaches great importance to the selection and adjustment of learning method. Due to relevant policy and their own reasons, the transfer of knowledge cannot occur in the learning process. Their study is in blind and lacks of planning.There is no difference in which kind of junior middle students study, but significant difference between Tibetan students and regular students. Compared with the regular students, more Tibetan students to get into college. Because of the elimination rate is low, the Tibetan students think that it is an interesting thing to study, and they can to get more pleasure from learning experience.
