| Xiangtan County, which is located in the east central part of Hunan Province andin the lower-middle reaches of Xiangjiang River, is the birthplace of Huxiang culture.Early in the song and Yuan Dynasties, Hu ’s family gave lectures in Biquan whereformed deep cultural details and develop education. Throughout HuNan province, theeducation of XiangTan County still maintain the leading position in the late Qing andearly republic period. However, the theory research of academic circles on educationof XiangTan County is few, and more scattered. So this topic research is extremelysignificance and has been value, which can fill the blank about XiangTan Countyeducation research in the late Qing and early republic period.At the first, this paper makes a detail introduction about XiangTan Countyeducation in the late Qing and early republic period. As a result of the modern socialpolitical and economic factors, the disadvantages of the traditional education apparentmore than before, at the same time, people began to think about the relationshipbetween education and saving the country. In this context, the reform of traditionaleducation and the rise of modern education like a raging fire. Then the primary schooleducation, middle school education, teacher education, vocational education and othersocial education develop rapidly in Xiangtan.Secondly, why could it achieve such a success? There are three reasons. Firstly,it was affected by the domestic situation and the thought of saving the countrythrough education. Secondly, it was promoted by educational policy and measures,including the foundation of new educational administrative institutions, theestablishment of educational organizations and the attention of the authorities toeducation teachers. The third one is that social elite commitment to the educationaldevelopment.At last, influenced by the subjective and objective factors, Xiangtan’s educationhas made remarkable achievements in late Qing and early Republic of China, also ithas been at the front row in Hunan province, Which directly promoted the rise ofmodern Xiangtan talent. At the same time, there emerged a number of new educationmodel. However, there exist some problems in reformation: imbalance in educationaldevelopment, uncompletly reform and also retained feudal nature. |
