In recent years, as competitive sports affected by commercialization and professionalization, many projects are not limited by the season, climate and site conditions, with a substantial increase in the times of annual competition and a corresponding increase in the opportunities for athletes. Along with the increase in the times, the form and scale have also changed a lot, not only shortening the competition time based on business requirements but also increasing the competition frequency. The competitions even occupied a certain proportion of the annual amount of training, and "race training combined, with training to race" has become the new trend. At present in the training practice under the new competition system, the idea of our training and competition arrangements is still in exploring summary, and there are many doubts and controversy on this issue in theory. In this current situation, methods such as mathematical statistics, case analysis, comparison, aretriedto analyze the competition characteristics of Chinese men’s long jump athletes in the years of2000-2011, a total of12years, in order to provide a reference in the scientific competition arrangements and training of our men’s long jump athletes. We can get following conclusions through the research:1. For nearly12years, the gap between the men’s long jump scores in China and the world is gradually expanding, but scores fluctuate, with an unstable development, showing outstanding performance in the domestic arena and instability in the international arena.2. It is a trend in our contemporary age that we will think much of training rhythm in a long training schedule. For the National Games year cycle competitions, it is shown that the times increase year by year, along with competition scores increasing, also with the most competition times and the best performance among Chinese men’s long jump athletes. The best scores often come out of the National Games year.3. Chinese men’s long jump athletes create the best scores mainly in June; Achievement growth points are mainly concentrated in May, which is maybe related to the arrangements of the domestic competitions, while for the world’s athletes primarily in July and August, consistent with international competitions time.4. Different age group athlete of the year competition of different. Along with the growth of the age, the number of athletes of the year increased gradually; the time of our athletes are mainly concentrated in the first half of the year, the interval is too long, compared with the excellent athletes in the world, a significant difference; China’s youth and adulthood player of the year competition similar, related to the level of training and training system of China sports.5. The competition age of Chinese men’s long jump athletes has the overall performance:14-20years of age is achievement rising phase, with a growing competitive level, a straight-line growing score, reaching personal athletic peak in the range of20-year-old;20-28years of age is state holding phase, maintaining a higher competitive level, and some individual athletes create their best scores in the end of this phase. And then, along with the rising of age, decreasing phase appears, with a descending competitive level.
