With the advent of21st century, the vocational student is required to possess high quality. In order to comply with the development of times, and to cultivate new qualified employment personnel, vocation education reform has been going on vigorously. A new kind of teaching mode—Inquiry Teaching was advanced and comes into our view.Methods such as literature analysis, questionnaire, and interviews and so on, are applied in the paper. The theory of inquiry teaching is thoroughly gone over and conducted a comprehensive summary through the method of literature analysis. With the application of questionnaire, the situation of students’inquiry study can be seen. Teachers’views on inquiry teaching mode and the problems existing in real practice are visible with interviews method. The process of the practice on inquiry teaching in several specific teaching strategies is presented with cases in mathematics class in vocational school.The paper expounds the theoretical basis on mathematics inquiry teaching from a psychological and pedagogical point of view and sums up inquiry teaching strategies which can well applied to vocational education. The teaching strategies are shown as follows:inquiry teaching simplicity for which appropriate content should be selected, inquiry teaching application in real life, for which question situation should created, success of inquiry teaching, for which group discussion should be organized, research on teaching at ease, for which variant exercises should be created, research on teaching ability enhancing, for which introspection and brief summary are needed. The teaching effects in vocational school are displayed through three specific cases analysis. The conclusion and the deficiencies are put forward in the last part of the paper.
