The emergence of network technology is a new technological revolution. Just like other new technological revolutions, network brings human convenience but also raises issues on ethics and morals, so network moral becomes an urgent issue of concern that deserves deep research. Similarly, network, which has been integrated into daily life of middle school students, brings them convenience but also negative effects. Therefore, it’s proposed that network moral education shall be provided for middle school students. The use of the traditional Chinese "shendu" theory introduced by Confucian school is of great significance to the enhancement of network moral education among middle school students.Firstly, an overview of "shendu" theory is given by using methods of literature review and induction. This paper starts with the origin and development of "shendu" theory and explains its development history; analyzes "shen" and "du" separately and on this basis discusses the connation of "shendu" theory, i.e., self-discipline, showing true self, self-improvement and self-transcendence; then, discusses "shendu" theory from the perspectives of self-cultivation method and moral realm by introducing five self-cultivation methods, i.e. discreet in trifles, at unmonitored conditions, in desire, in speech and in conduct, and four kinds of moral realm, i.e. sincerity, unity of truth and goodness, rational self-consciousness and not deceiving oneself as well as others, concluded the moral functions of "shendu" theory and analyzes its role in network moral education among middle school students. Then, this paper discusses the internal unity between network moral and "shendu" theory on the basis of an overview of the connotation and characteristics of network moral:the subjectivity of network moral well tallies with "shendu" theory, the self-discipline in network moral is highly consistent with "shendu" theory and the sense of responsibility in network moral is closely related to "shendu" theory, which supplies possibility for the use of this theory in network moral education for middle school students. After that, it analyzes the problems in network moral of middle school students separately from three aspects, i.e. confusion in cognition, indifference in emotion and misconducts in respective of network moral, and on this basis, derives the reasons for the deficiency of network moral among middle school students:the non-synchronized physical and mental development, improper family education, insufficient responses in school education, inadequate social supervision, network’s inherent characteristics and negative examples in peers, which explains the necessity for the use of "shendu" theory in network moral education for middle school students. Finally, network moral education for middle school students is studied under the enlightenment of "shendu" theory. In detail, it explains the connotation and demands of "shendu" theory at the current times to supply basis for the application of this theory in the network times, then discusses the demands for network moral education among middle school students under the enlightenment of "shendu" theory:educating them to be discreet in trifles, at unmonitored conditions, in desire, in speech and in conduct, cultivating their sense of network moral and normalizing their network moral conducts, and explores network moral education approaches among middle school students under the perspective of "shendu" theory:(1) families pay more attention to "shendu" spirit;(2) schools provide "shendu" ideological education to them;(3) to disseminate "shendu" theory through media; and (4) promote "shendu" spirit through the peers as carrier. In this study, the traditional Chinese culture-"shendu" theory is combined with the actual conditions of network moral of middle school students to explore the effective approaches of network moral education among middle school students from the perspective of "shendu" theory so as to exercise the functions of "shendu" theory in network times, improve the network moral quality of middle school students and ensure the smooth development of the network.
