Higher vocatioal education has now entered a new era of quality, of efficiency andof internal development. Due to the materialistic trend in higher vocational educationconcept and the over-emphasis on the goal of “employment-orientation”, the humanisticquality education system is not reasonably constructed, which results in the poor qualityof higher vocational education. With the adjustment to the industry structure, the requestfor student’s professional ethics is becoming higher and higher. The educational model of“solely skill-focused”can no longer meet the demand of modernized economy. In thissense, study of higher vocational humanistic education is of great significance boththeoretically and realistically, and this has become an important issue for highervocational education reform.Based on the library research, this study firstly defines the connotation ofhumanistic education and expounds on the significance of humanistic education in highervocational colleges. Secondly, it analyzes the problems with the humanistic educationand the causes of them with a case study of Zhangjiakou Vocational and TechinicalCollege through questionnair and interview done in this school. Finally, it makesresearches into the system construction for higher vocational humanistic education andmakes analysis of the practice and effect of humanistic education in ZhangjiakouVocational and Technical College.The humanistic education system construction is analyzed in the following fouraspects.(1) A concept of focus on both the skill training and the humanistic educationshould be formed due to the influence and the restriction of some higher vocationaleducation concepts.(2)As the construction of higher vocational humanistic education is ahighly systematic project, it should be planned systematically and scientifically, with theconsideration of its own characteristics, and it should be enforced rigidly.(3)Highervocational humanistic education system should include the following in it: humanisticcourses, teaching faculty for humanistic courses, practical education, extracurriculumcourses, campus culture, and evaluation system for humanistic education.(4) Higher vocational colleges must lay emphasis on the practical research and perform every dutywell so that they can form a sound humanistic environment and increase the effectivenessof humanistic education.
