Youth unemployment remains a significant problem in China. However, Someyoung educated people give up their job in voluntary, which is actually a failure intransition to adult. In this paper we explore the dynamics of this problem by usingqualitative interview. Eight Chinese educated young people experiencing the voluntaryunemployment, aged between24and29years, were individually interviewed followinga semi-structured interview protocol. The interviews were subsequently contentanalyzed. Results revealed that Voluntary Unemployment is influenced by fourdimensions--the attitude of youth, family decision, school education and socialcontracture. With lack of economic needs and enough emotional motivation, youngpeople’ identity in transition is hard to change to a worker. And the worship of“Consunmmatory” is the essential factor in this problem. In addition, learning from theSTW act of United States and Europe, we should try to integrate all social partners towork out a voluntary youth unemployment dilemma.
