Abstract/Summary:
During the Qing dynasty, two different cultures between Chinese and Manchuconflicted throughout the reign of its life.Nearly three hundred years, the ongoingdialogue between the two cultures, from the conflict, and then adjust the blend.In the earlyQing Dynasty, the debate is particularly intense for the distinction of "Hua Yi".They arecompeting for the power of discourse of society,from the rulers to the educated class andthe Ming loyalists.They hope that they can shape the social memory though the power ofdiscourse to prove the legitimacy of their own.The rulers learn and absorb Chinese cultureto reinvent themselves,and also prove their legitimacy.Obviously,Cultural identity is aninteractive process.The Ming loyalists start a fight, then be a gradual recognition.Theeducated class and the gentry choose to help the rulers of the Qing Dynasty.The twodifferent cultures are merged and the contradictions are diluted.These show that “Hua”“Yi”is not about the racial different,but the cultural issues.We should accept the choices whichare responsive to the needs of cultural and social development.Conversely,conquest andresistance will lead to the loss of life and the depressed economy.Inconclusion,“Hua”“Yi”should not be split.
