As a basic political system of China, RAEM has made remarkable achievements over the past sixty years. It consolidates the unity of the country and the integrity of the its territory from political system perspective, constructs a unified multi-ethnic political system, enables citizens of all nationalities to equally become the master of the country, promotes political stability and economical development of ethnic areas, and develops the equality, unity, mutual assistance, and harmony of socialist ethnic relations. However, besides the prominent achievements, there are also problems:the rights division between central government and ethnical areas is not clear, a lack of legal protection emerges during the full exercise of autonomous power, the uneven economical development among different ethnic areas arises conflicts of interests, the increasing ethnic concept during urbanization influences the harmony of ethnic relations, and also, the political participation of ethnic areas to some degree insufficient. To solve the problems, the thesis illustrates and puts forwards relative counter-measures from intensifying political reform and straightening out the power attribution between central government and ethnic areas; perfecting relative laws and regulations like Law on Regional National Autonomy and ensuring the full exercise of autonomous powers; accelerating economical development of ethnic areas and eliminating conflicts and disputes on the road of Chinese characterized socialism; protecting and fostering civic culture on urbanization of ethnic areas; promoting political, cultural and socialization construction of ethnic areas and enhancing ethnic political participation, with the purpose of better insisting on and improving RAEM system.
