Research On The Southward Strategy Of The Red Army Among The Long March

According to document assembly, chronicle, memoir as main materials, this dissertation focus on investigating the Southward Strategy of the Red Army among the Long March.Guided by the theory of military strategy to construct the basic framework of the article,as well as the use of empirical literature,sociology methods to inspect its specific characteristics presented among its formulation, implementation and outcome. Based on the reference and absorbing of the existing research results, we considering that:There has been a period of preparation and development process about the Southward Strategy. In the early time of the Long March, the Red4th Front Army active in the strategic action in close coordination with the Central Red Army at the requests of the Revolutionary Military Commission, and made a great contribution to achieve victory joined forces for two main Red Army. However,based on the misjudgment of the international and domestic political situation after Maogong realignment, Zhang guotao have a huge differences in strategic development direction of the red army with the Party Central Committee established northward strategy. Driven by its ballooning individual rights desire, he delays and refused to implement the correct northward strategy of CPC Central Committee,and then split the Red Army,make the differences development into the wrong Southward Strategy.The implementation of the Southward Strategy could be clearly divided into two stages. In the preparation stage before the implementation of Southward Strategy, through manufacturing southward public opinion, implementing southward spiritual mobilization, and organize "provisional central";deployed the Red Army moving to the southward, reorganization its command system, displacing those cadres hold a post in the Red4th Front Army who came from the Central Red Army at the same time, Zhang guotao could completed his preparation both in politics and military.With these measures,he could concentrated the power of party, government, military of the southward Red Army in the hands of himself individually established an unified command institution meanwhile,so that the Red Army were quite prepared in the mind, politic and military to the southward military operations.The Red Army launched twice major battle in succession during the war time of southward periods.However,after a series of tactical victory initially, the negative factors of south strategy began to emerge,marked by the lost of baizhang close battle in the case of outnumbered, means that the Southward Strategy were ultimately failed.Complex reasons leads to the defeat of the Southward strategy.Under the command of headquarters, with the use huge mistake judgment by the kuomintang (KMT) on the its movement, the Red Army sufficiently achieved tactical surprise.And they have won significant victory once upon a time by carry forward its unique tactical advantage and high morale under the special battlefield conditions. But,tactical efforts can not save the strategic mistakes.The Red Army paid a heavy price in the battlefield for the false Southward Strategy at later stages of Southward military operations. The reasons why Southward Strategy went to defeat as follows:first of all is that strategy deviated from the objective requirement of Stopping the civil war and unanimously resisting Japanese, which resulting from the Japanese pressing harder and harder leads to ethnic contradictions between China and Japan rose sharply; the second is that strategy directly conflicted with the strategic assumption of the arrangement of home front to resistance Japan in Sichuan province,which Chiang kai-shek has explicitly put forward it at the beginning of1935; the third is that style of warlordism runs counter to the fundamental principle of the Party commands the gun.
