On The Village Public Spirit And Its Construction

Rural public spirit refers to the recognition and preservation of the rural public interests shown in the interaction between individuals and villages and also between villages. The research of rural public spirit is not only complementary to the theory of public spirit, but also plays an important role in the rural public governance, which provides practical solutions to all kinds of problems in marketing economy. The thesis tends to discuss rural public spirit in the following four aspects.Firstly, the thesis tends to grasp the connotation and particularity of rural public spirit. The comprehensive understanding of the connotation of public spirit is based on the exploration of its modern implications. After the connotation of public spirit is ensured, the meaning of rural public spirit will be discussed. The concept of the latter is the extension of the former, while rural public spirit has its own particularity which is shown based on the occurrence of public spirit.Secondly, the thesis tends to describe the current situation of rural public spirit in China. To begin with, we have witnessed the emergence of modern implications of rural public spirit, including the enhancement of farmers’rights consciousness and rational consciousness as well as the frequency of political engagement. However, rural public spirit is lacked in many ways, such as the shrink of public living space, the dislocation of subject position, the distortion of values, the non-systematical engagement, etc..Thirdly, the thesis tends to analyze the factors affecting the rural public spirit in China recently. When we discuss it, the emphasis should be put on the combination of traditional factors and modern factors. The traditional ones analyze the small-scale peasant economy as a particular economic form, as well as the society structure which is characteristic of rural areas, along with the traditional concepts of public and private in culture. The modern ones mainly discuss the value dilemma caused by modern transformation, the impact of marketing economy and the low level of villagers’autonomy.Fourthly, the thesis tends to reflect upon the construction of rural public spirit. The rural public spirit will be constructed from the following aspects including the rapid development of economy, the improvement of villagers’autonomy system, and the enhancement of cultural construction and rural area organization construction.
