| Eco-socialism is a new thought with socialist tendencies, which is produced fromthe Western Green peace activity in the1970s and becomes mature and in the early1990s. Eco-socialism, as a product of the combination of the Western Marxist thoughtand the “new social movementsâ€, is a new exploration of the contemporary worldsocialism. It reflects the necessary link between the settlement of the contemporaryecological crisis and socialism, the Western left-wing scholars’ latest understanding ofthe capitalist society that results in today’s global ecological crisis, and reflects theWestern Marxist scholars’ new understanding of socialism, so it provides thecontemporary human with a new perspective of understanding of socialism.Eco-socialism regards the link between human being and the nature as a theory, thinksthe eco-efficiency as a core value of human economic activities, and sees theharmonious development between human being and the nature as a goal. Besides, itstudies human economic activities, political activities and other activities, opening upa new vision for human of thinking and observing the problem of capitalism andsocialism.This paper probes into the study of eco-socialism from the historical roots, thepractical basis, and the origin of theory, its formation and development of the theoryof ecological socialist society. The first chapter interprets the occurrence of theeco-socialist theory, combs its rise and evolution and makes a brief comment, whichlays the foundation for expanding the later content in detail.Then, from two major aspects of the contemporary and historical limitations, thispaper comments the eco-socialism theory more objectively and comprehensively andhelps us to learn the essence of eco-socialism theory and abandon its dregs. And sumsup three inspiration of the eco-socialism for us to build a harmonious socialist societyand discusses three aspects:“Ecological harmonious value" provides the valuablereference for us to correctly understand and deal with the relationship between humanand nature;“Concept of sustainable development†promotes sustainable social andeconomic development and the harmony of society with reference;“Environmentalcrisis theory†adds a new perspective and new content to the building of a harmonioussociety. This part has great significance for our considering how to make theeco-socialism ideology from the Western culture localized, how to make the positivefactors of eco-socialism serve China’s modernization and the cause of socialism withChinese characteristics. |
