China-Mozambique relationship started date back to the1960’s when People’s Republic of China supported Mozambique in the struggle for independence against Portuguese colonial. After independence in1975, relations remained friendly. Since that time till today, the ties between two countries are enjoying smooth development in all strands.Sino-Mozambique diplomatic ties have a long tradition and long way to go, especially on their development model, and they are open to learn from each other, to experience the lessons as well as contents, nature, goals, and so on. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between two countries, both side have got mutual benefits, for example, China provided to Mozambique a various projects:Textile mill, passenger cargo vessel, well drilling and water supply, shoe-making, clothing factor, parliament building, house project, training military, offering military equipment, etc, and Mozambique have allowed China to explore some mineral resources and timber. As matter facts, the strategic partnership between China and Africa, all the developing countries and the home to the largest concentration of developing countries, took the global significance, not just meaningful to their bilateral relations. China and Africa are brothers and sisters. The two countries breathe together, their fates are consistent and their hearts are close to each other.Sino-Mozambique relationship has position that:China’s engagement with Africa is overwhelmingly economic and diplomatic, rather than military and strategic. However, China’s presence remains popular because of its perceived social and economic benefits, in contrast to neoliberal structural adjustment’s failure to significantly bolster social and economic progress. Many scholars argue that China’s relations with Mozambique support the wider diagnosis of declining American hegemony, but that China itself does not yet assuming that position.Agriculture is another important sector for Mozambique to be modernized and financed. China already built Agricultural Research Centre to facilitate scientific research, training, and technology development. The Chinese hope to increase Mozambican rice production from100,000to500,000tons a year with aim to import surpluses into Chinese markets. In agriculture, Mozambique has lightly exploited land, favorable climatic conditions and abundant labor, which give it great growth potential. The modernization of agriculture aims to create export surpluses, thus Chinese assistance is additionally motivated by Chinese food security interests. However China is driven by its need to secure energy resources, and diversification into biofuels could be a productive investment. There is hope that new crop types, farming techniques and technology might initiate a Green Revolution’in Mozambique.
