A family is the cell of the society and the marriage is the foundation of family. Every male should take a wife and every female should take a husband to continue the family line. Marriage has always been the Chinese traditional family values. Establishing a family through marriage introduction is the main way to realize the value. With the development and change of China, various subjective and objective factors lead to the growing pressure of contemporary marriage mate selection, thus matchmaking, which provides an effective service platform and channel to the single people of every age, becomes necessary. Therefore, it has realistic significance and humanistic value to study the matchmaking service in China.Based on the sociological theoretical framework for thinking, this paper adopts the method of quantitative and qualitative research. Taking Nanjing matchmaking as an example, it analyzes the matchmaking service in China from three aspects. The first is the object of matchmaking service, according to the survey data to analysis the basic characteristics of China’s contemporary matchmaking service object, mating demand, attitudes to service. Second is the subject of matchmaking service, matchmaking service subject in the form in our country has experienced a process of evolution from the ancient matchmaker, to contemporary marriage, marriage agencies, newspapers dating, TV dating, online dating, and various types of dating forms. Then it explores each form, the present situation characteristic and measures to the problem. The third is the content of the matchmaking service, taking X dating agency in Nanjing as an example, detailed display the basic service content of China’s contemporary matchmaking service process.Research shows that the current Chinese matchmaking service has a high market demand and prospect. Matchmaking service object have significant characteristics in line with the relevant marriage mate choice theory; its subjects operate towards modernization and regularization; its contents are enrichment, professional, systematic. While at the same time there are problems, such as the faith crisis, confusion of values, and so on. Thus it needs the attention from governments, matchmaking subject, matchmaking object and all sectors of society. It will promote our country to improve effectiveness of matchmaking, better coordinate and give guidance in the single men and women dating, then to promote matchmaking development, personal life happiness, family harmony and social stability.
