One’s belief will surely play an important role for the development of bothindividuals and the society. However, the current situation of belief in socialtransmission period is worrying, for example, some doubt the original believes;some lose believes; or, some are confused in believes. A proper way to perfectcurrent situation of belief must be worked out. The spiritual development is trulyrelating to economy and social existence, but Marxism also admits that thedevelopment of social consciousness is historical succession. As far as belief isconcerned, society and individuals can hardly develop without national culture.Belief construction must consult from traditional culture, especially from resourcesof traditional philosophy. The author in this essay, therefore, devotes himself intoexcavating and combing ideas of "sincerity" in traditional philosophy, aiming atperfecting current belief situation.Sincerity is a very complicated concept in traditional philosophy, in which themeanings are presented from three aspects: firstly, sincerity means saying what hethinks, and means what he says; secondly, sincerity is integrated with natural lawsand human rules, integration within form and without form; thirdly, sincerity is theunification of recognition, emotion, and significance, which is the representation offree personality. The three aspects above mentioned have a close relationship withbelief establishment. First of all, from the aspect of belief establishment, both egoand other’s "saying what he thinks" and "meaning what he says" provide definiteevidence for belief; the unification of natural laws and human rules suppliesdimensionality within form for belief; furthermore, the unification of recognition, emotion and significance provides subjects with free personality for belief. Secondly, from the aspect of consolidating belief, belief has been formed during "saying whathe thinks" and "meaning what he says"; belief has been conformed during unification of natural laws and human rules, with or without form; and, belief hasbeen intensified during personality cultivation featured with unification ofrecognition, emotion, and significance. The functions of sincerity in belief construction cannot be neglected. At present, however, people have not paid much attention to them. The author in this essay, therefore, points out after summarizing the current situation of "sincerity" and"belief" in real life that contemporary belief construction should consult fromphilosophy of "sincerity", namely, to arouse belief with "sincerity", which means:first of all, to build faithful government and group to set examples of "practicingwhat you preach"; secondly, to enhance philosophical and social work to providephilosophical foundation for belief; thirdly, to safeguard individual’s dignity andfundamental rights to establish personality base for belief.
