This thesis introduces thoroughly the special rights and interests of the seniorcitizen and analyzes the status quo of the protection in our country. By introducing thesenior citizen’s rights and interests security system in western developed countries, thethesis concludes that their experience and lessons have profound guiding significancefor the aging work in China. Besides, after comparing the Law on Protection of Rightsand Interests of Seniors in1996and its amendment in2012, the thesis renders somesuggestions for the future work in this field in China. The whole thesis can be dividedinto three parts:The first part mainly analyzes the particularity of the seniors’ rights and interestsand the status quo of its protection in China. It focuses on the seniors’ right ofobtaining material assistance from the state and society and other rights and interestslike the right of by supporting, property right, and the right to freedom of marriagethat need special protection, in which what is highlighted is the characteristic ofspecialty. Analyze the current situation of old-age security in China from legislationjudicial status and family aspect.The second part gives a thorough introduction of the senior citizen’s rights andinterests security system in the United States and Japan, then it critically analyzestheir advanced experience and existing shortcomings, with the hoping to offer broadguidance to the aging work in China and to perfect our related protection system.The third part, by comparing the Law on Protection of Rights and Interests ofSeniors in1996and its amendment in2012, puts forward some constructivesuggestions to the current Law on Protection of Rights and Interests of Seniors andother supporting security systems.
