Musical is a kind of opera which originated in England in the late19th century. Musical describes characters and shows psychological, emotional and dramatic conflicts of the characters through music, opera and dances.Musical is popular all over the world, especially in New York’s Broadway and London West End. Through innovation development for hundreds of years, we are familiar with such musicals as,"Cats","Phantom of the Opera"and"Miss Saigon".We are going to discuss the musical adaptation of "Les Miserables",in which the author Victor Hugo fully presents the miserable life of the working people at the bottom of the life in the19th century’s France. The play is composed by Claude Michel Schoenberg, with Alan Bao Boli as lyricist, Trevor Nunn and John Calder as co-screenwriter and director. It premiered in Paris stadium in1980, but was forced to put to an end in the16th weeks. The most successful theatrical producer Mackintosh in the history was touched by this music, decided to re-create, translated the French lyrics into English, re-edit it and made it the prevailing English version. it premiered in London in1985as a great success, and then in the Broadway blockbuster launch, has been on the show for more than200cities in39countries, in21different languages, performed in54version. The play contains all over the world more than50important international awards. Based on the musical "les miserable" main character "Fanti" as the main research object, analyzes Fanti role shaping and concert, the main contentsFirst of all, the introduction part introduces the main content and meaning of this paper; Second, the first part Outlines the musical les miserables, analyses the creation background, introduces the plot summary; In the second part this paper analyzes the character fantine" of the musical les miserables, introduced the character features of "fantine"; The third part studies the singing of musical les miserables "fantine", takes "I dreamed a dream" as analysis object, explores its expression of emotion and singing. The last part summarizes the full text.
