As a renowned international Chinese French painting artist, Zhao Wuji hasformed its own uniqueartistic style in the “collision” of and “fusion” of eastern andwestern culture, and has attract people’s attention in the international art world, withthe praise and worship, he made the eastern art become well-known again by theworld. Throughout the history of the art,it is not difficult to discover that he grew upin Lin Fengmian’s "Chinese and Western" artistic ideas, with the experience oflearning and living in France and the United States, he touched western classical arttreasure, absorbing modern art canon. Zhao Wuji used the western modern paintinglanguage, putting Chinese traditional artistic spirit and meaning into them, to expressthe elegant mysterious oriental temperament, and formed the cosmic landscape withunique artistic conception and Chinese oriental charm. His works has the delicate andbeautiful shape and color with the calligraphy brush, speaking in measured tones andvery rhythmic beauty,which was known as"the represent of western modern lyricabstract art". The first Chinese academician of College France, Mr. Cheng Baoyievaluates Zhao Wuji like this:"He learned the greatness of Western art. At the sametime, he also found that the oriental culture wonderful". Zhao Wuji himself once said:"If Paris’s influence in my growth process of artists as a whole is undeniable, I mustsay, as I thought deeply, I gradually rediscovered China. My recent paintings reflectthe China very naturally ".This paper discusses the traditional elements of painting in Zhao Wuji’s works,mainly from the two angles of painting language and the artistic spirit, for his picturecomposition, space, brushwork, color, lightpainting language and other aspects ofanalysis, summarized the application of the traditional elements of painting worksChinese. The thesis is divided into three chapters, the first chapter is divided into threesections,respectively, on the evolution road of Zhao Wuji’s art and painting stylemadea systematic exposition. The second chapter focuses on the analysis of Chinatraditional form of painting language in Zhao Wuji’s works, this chapter is dividedinto four sections, respectively, from the composition andspace, brushwork, color,light and other four aspects of in-depth analysis of its work in the form of language, inthe form of language as the foothold ofhow Zhao Wuji will Chinese traditional elements of painting to abstract painting his own. The third chapter interprets theChina traditional artistic spirit in Zhao Wuji’s works, is divided into three sections,respectively, from "Tao" spirit, life of meanings, and thinking of harmony to study thethree aspects of Chinese traditional artistic spirit in Zhao Wuji’s works. Through theanalysis of the traditional elements of painting in the works of Zhao Wuji for hisfuture road will provide a broader space for us.
