Modern Drama is a kind of ancient art which had already industrialized in the western world. But in the mainland of China, this art not only didn’t grow up so quickly for some special reasons, but also even could not survive at one time. Fortunately, On account of the great effort and brave quest of all the modern drama practitioner in the Chinese mainland, the modern drama in the mainland of China had already stay away from the existent crisis, and appeared the rudimentary form of modern drama industry. However, if the rudimentary form wanted to be mature, it will still have a lot of things to do. And in this situation, summarized the successful experience of other areas, will mean a lot to the Chinese mainland modern drama on its own industrial way. Lai Sheng-chuan is one of the most excellent playwrights and directors in Asia, and his Performance Workshop is one of the most famous commercial troupes in Taiwan. Therefore, this essay chose him and his Performance Workshop to analyze, and tried to summarize the successful experience to supply some suggestions to the development of the Chinese mainland modern drama industry.There are five parts in this essay. The first chapter showed the rough state of affairs of the modern drama in Chinese mainland and Taiwan, gave a simple introduction of Lai Sheng-chuan and his Performance Workshop, and explained the possibility and necessity of learning to the "Lai Sheng-chuan’s Pattern". Chapter two introduced Lai Sheng-chuan and some of his important works briefly at first, then take a deep research to his creation aesthetics. Chapter three analyzed the daily operation of Performance workshop as the most famous commercial troupe in Taiwan through fours angles, and they are producer system, actor choosing, brand establishing and protecting, resources integrating. Chapter four chose three individual cases from all Lai Sheng-chuan’s works which had appeared in the stage of Chinese mainland as models, and studied the marketing plans to find the basic train of thought of Lai Sheng-chuan’s modern drama industrial operating. At last, the Chapter five tried to link the "Lai Sheng-chuan’s pattern" to the Chinese mainland, and then provided some suggestions to its modern drama industrial development.
