Wang Guozhen was once the popular continental poet, created a great sensation of "WangGuozhen fever". His poems are understandable, positive and loved by teenagers. Wang Guozhenpoetry flourished in the form of "handwritten poem", was published in the1990,“set the biggestcirculation of the new epic poetry.”1990was also called "Wang Guozhen year." Now the "fever"has receded, it still has a considerable number of readers. In the meantime, the poetry of WangGuozhen woned the juvenile craze, obtained the commercial speculation of the publishing circlesand also were questioned by the academia. In the circumstance that it got both praise and blame,the life of Wang Guozhen’s poetry has been continued to now. But the research on the academicabout the "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" that has large controversial and differences betweencritics and the mass readers has never been explored deeply, this was due to the special culturaland political background in the1990s. The academia of the time was keen on the analysis of thetext characteristic, the concise and popular Wang Guozhen poetry didn’t conform to theiraesthetic standard of the promotion of classic and the favor of pioneer. But now the prevailingcultural studies have been out of the aesthetic field of the literature that has independentdiscipline, point to the root cause of the social, cultural and political ideology behind the text. Insuch a cultural context, the response that caused by "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" and it’stransformation after the1990s should be revisited, so the author tries to use the method ofcultural studies, studies the occurrence and development of "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" inmultiple perspectives.From the rise of Wang Guozhen’s poetry and its limelight, to the regressive "calm", thepoetry of Wang Guozhen as a youth subculture not only experienced the silence of mainstreamculture and the criticism of elite culture, but also experienced the commercial packaging andpromotion of mass culture. Therefore, this paper tries to starting with the four cultures that hadrelationship with "Wang Guozhen phenomenon", namely gazes at "Wang Guozhen phenomenon"in the view of the mainstream culture, youth subculture, mass culture, elite culture, reveals therelationship between "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" and them in the perspective of the valuedemand of them on the poetry of Wang Guozhen as a cultural form. Youth subculture impelled the occurrence of "Wang Guozhen phenomenon", mass culture made it hot all the time, eliteculture became the critics of the occurrence and development and mainstream culture took asilent stance that let their forces imposed on the poetry of Wang Guozhen as a cultural form.Behind the characterization of the upsurge of "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" that happened—rose—faded, different cultural forces in different periods played a role."Wang Guozhenphenomenon" hinged on the different value demand of multiple cultures on the poetry of WangGuozhen, but was affected seriously by the relationship and the balance of the power of multiplecultures. Its occurrence and development also reflect the mutative and diverse complexrelationship of multiple cultures.The paper is divided into five chapters, the introduction part is to comb the predecessor’sresearch, elaborate the paper’s innovative, research purpose and research value and define theconcepts of "Wang Guozhen phenomenon","dominant culture","youth subculture","massculture" and "elite culture" etc. The first chapter briefly explores the artistic features of the poetryof Wang Guozhen and combs the "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" in detail. The second chapter isabout the links and the dividing line between "Wang Guozhen phenomenon" and the mainstreamculture. The third chapter analyzes the carnival of the Wang Guozhen poetry as a youthsubculture in teenagers in essence. The fourth chapter looks at the rise and fall of the WangGuozhen poetry under the business operation in the dimension of popular culture. The fifthchapter discusses the relationship between elite culture and the "Wang Guozhen phenomenon".The Epilogue briefly concludes the reasons of the occurrence and the development of the "WangGuozhen phenomenon", combs the relationships of the several kinds of culture. I wish that thispaper would be helpful for the current cultural boom and would enrich the contemporary cultureresearch achievements at the same time.
