If the Impressionist paintings give colors more freedom, then Expressionistpaintings must make the greatest contribution of putting the manifestation of color tothe extreme. For expressionist paintings, color is not only used to depict the reality, but much more closer to the original color rules as well as people’s emotions and ideas.Just as Collinwood asserted,"The real art is expressive art". Roland Barthes also says,"Once colors no longer match to the natural color, the real color exists".Previous color languages have been promoted and the ready-made color has beenexhibited, that is to say, the artists are choosing off-the-shelf color images orready-made colorful materials on their figures. This is an expansive thought of finearts, and a symbol of when the main body of drawing languages began to hold a voicein a picture. At the end of the19th century, material gradually transformed the identity ‘theimages carrier’ into ‘the existence of language subject’, and the transition fromreproducing scenes to expressing oneself began. What’s more, colors and graphicalmodeling also get a great breakthrough as well. It is an inevitable trend of an era.Every time something new exists, people would try to explore the value andsignificance of it. The diversification of the artists’ expression and material selectionmake the rules of painting language took a creative innovation. As a result, reconstructing painting rules becomes a new topic. According to these aesthetic tastes, aesthetic standard must have changed over time, and this is the reason why the artistand the era are bound to grow together.
