With the rapid development of the city, railway traffic is becoming one ofthe main ways for public. With the requirements of subway operating andcarrying capacity in recent days, the demands of aesthetic enjoyment andspiritual pursuits are becoming increasingly prominent. Subway space as animportant public space is shifting to the urban important window and platform ofspreading the arts and cultures, showing the city’s image and highlighting thespirit of the city.Based on current development of public art in the city subway status,Beijing subway as my example and I will investigate the status of the Beijingsubway public art field, at the same time, I would analyze the foreign citysubway public art case to finish my research. Through analysis and comparisonof domestic and international public art subway cases, the results of future trendsand development direction of urban subway public art would be summarized.The forms of artistic expression in the subway space are relatively simple inthe early time, like the murals, reliefs. The designers just replaced traditionalforms of art from the museums into the public space in the subway area. In termsof public space creating in the subway space, the traditional form of public artplays a role only decorate the space, however, it did not achieve the real purposeof activating the public space of the city subway. In response to this situation, Iam also doing a lot of research, data analysis, fundamental research, andmanifestation summarizing and categorizing which are based on existing subwaypublic art expression. And then, I would combine with my own understanding ofpublic art and the creations of urban subway space to research and explore theconcrete application of interactivity and participatory in this special urban space.
