Study Nature Spirits Han Dynasty Folk Beliefs

Nature worship is part of the folk beliefs, people have to cope with the vagaries of nature environment to live in the first place under the condition of low productivity. So the nature worship plays an important role in ancient folk beliefs all the time. The Han dynasty is the important stages in the ancient Chinese folk belief which carry forward the custom of the ancient times and connect with the emergence of Taoism and the entry into China of Buddhism, is also the mature period of nature worship. This paper does a comprehensive research on the people’s belief in nature worship during the Han dynasty and made an in-depth analysis on it’s origin and evolution as well as the interact with society through collecting the materials of Han stone inscriptions and combined with historical literature.The first chapter is describing the ideological and social foundations of the nature worship from the perspective of social and ideological development. Han dynasty is a times which filled with sorcery and ghosts-deities thoughts. Changes in the political, economic, rulers’ policy have an effect on people’s spiritual world, it’s also the soil that the nature worship could continuity and development.The second chapter is the content of the nature worship in Han dynasty. This chapter mainly does a research from the god of heaven and earth, the mountain god, wind god and rain god based on the Han stone and to analyze its variation.The third chapter is the interplay of nature worship and the society from social economy, thoughts, people’s mentality and so on. Nature worship, which interacted with other custom, is becoming a part of Chinese daily life.The conclusion part summarizes the characteristics of the nature worship in Han dynasty. Through the get along with the nature, the belief for the nature is not only to succumb to its powerful, even with a kind of spiritual awareness. Humans is one part of nature, they can be treat with gifts of nature if they following the natural and get along with the nature harmonious.
