Comparative Study Of Lu Xun And Yu Hua Novels

Lu Xun and Yu Hua lived in different time. However, their writing styles are quite similar. They all pay mor attention to living situation and its worth, which point out the traps of living and the awareness rooted from it. All their writings are full of sympathy, carelessness and humanism.The thesis firstly pay more attention to the two men’s similarity. Both of them discussed different living situation,the fact of having no alternative to living and the awareness of misery to living. At the same time, it engaged in squeezing the living significance secretly. Lu Xun focused on criticizing the inherent weakness of our national to represent Enlightment harmonious society with considering to be a man. However, Yu Hua underlined the noble qualities of tragedy and realizing the warmth to human behind coolness and craziness irrationally in his writing. When both of them were in the squashing of deep studying the living phenomenon and significance, they revealed to pay more attention to the existing situation in order to come true the docking from the narrative of Yu Hua’s novel to the spirit of Lu Xun.Secondly, Mr. Lu Xun and Yu Hua lived in different times with distinct background. So they also showed personal unique ways in writing. That is to say Mr. Lu Xun attaches importance to collective enlightenment which belongs to social difficulties. In this way, Mr. Lu Xun aimed to evoke attentions to rescue the shortness of the nation. He abounded to week spirit of the whole nation and tired to arouse the souls of the countrymen. However, Mr. Yu Hua avoided enlighten and revolution. His point of view comes from exist of lives and human nature. In this way, he shows the view that human beings can not rescue themselves. So they can just accept and bare the weakness of nature lives. All his writings show a kind of down-to-earth spirit of life history. At the same time, they also have differences in the view of criticism. Mr. Lu laid emphasis on cultural critique which focuses on old esthetic and culture. He mainly criticized human nature which was ruined then by feudal structure. Meanwhile, he brought the same attention to abhor from coward national character and his self-examination. In Mr. Yu Hua’s writing, he criticized social situation. He narrated hardship in old China and the hard to tide over difficulties with modest folk living philosophy. He collected strength from social background to criticize ugly situation at that time. For example, the narration of the two brothers’ tragedy in his novel Brother is the same as a thought-provoking social tragedy. In the following part, I would like to study the root which caused the difference of thinking ways. That is because of the change from feeling the language situation and heartfelt mission. Mr. Lu Xun criticized the whole feudal culture which caused all kinds of malpractice. Mr. Yu Hua, however, his views of thinking come from personal view’s change in writing, consciousness regression of being a normal person, the change caused by development of economy and the need of readers’ aesthetic change. The difference of writing views lead to the difference in writing style, so their novels give off attractive artistic charm distinguishably.Furthermore, they explored the same social topic in their writing in which they kept eyes on the existing situation deeply. The topic mainly displayed dilemma of human existence. Countrymen met by analysing external and internal context of existence.At the same time,they made an painful analysis of national spirit and featured people’s spirit that was born by the long sufferings and abused in the protest.Together they revealed that the human could’t avoid the dilemma fo existence when the human meet the tragedy time. Leading to reflect and concern with the true essence of life, which shows that writers contain sad humanistic concern and deep sense of crisis.Finally the thesis concluded the significance of comparative study between their writings. Then they wrote for moral principle or a sense of social commitment not for themselves. For they created by the feeling in the deep heart, which anatomized the dilemma of human existence., they expressed the ultimate concern of existence of human society and life.
