Moral relativism has become an enormous obstacle of moral value choiceamong modern people, each person only identifies with self principles of morality andcode of conduct and put them into the moral practice. What’s worse, some peopleeven measure other’s moral practice by their own moral value forcibly. The spread ofmoral relativism not only makes a huge mess of moral life, but also destroys the faithto public morals. There are too much emphasis on the individual moral, which willonly weaken the effect of community and society, and further make moral evaluationand social supervision decline continually. Obviously, moral relativism has become amajor problem in modern society. This paper takes the moral relativism as object ofstudy, then summarizes the infection briefly that moral relativism may lead to themoral practice among modern people, trying to research and evaluate moral relativismcritically so that people can have a further realization the essence of moral relativismand be out of its dilemma.The paper is divided into five parts: the first part is an introduction of mainthoughts and research methods and a literature review about moral relativism bothhere and abroad;the second part mainly describes the connotation of moral relativismand distinctions between moral relativism and moral relativity;the third part analyzesthe internal and external reasons why the moral relativism emerge and also its types;the fourth part anatomizes the relevant theory on opposite sides of moral relativism bycontrast,making people more clearly understand moral relativism;the fifth part is anevaluation to moral relativism which analyzes both positive and negative impact itcauses on society and discusses the characteristics of moral consensus and theformation of moral consensus principle, trying to find a way to establish the moralconsensus so that people can get rid of moral relativism.
