More than half a century, studies on the phonetic description of Miao-Yao Language has achieved gratifying results, but experts and scholars focused on consonants and tones more than finals, which cause the studies of finals left behind. Based on Reconstruction of proto-Miao Language, wrote by Prof. Wang Fushi in1994, by comparison the corresponding law of sound change, evolution way and its conditions in30finals in all of sub-dialects of Qiandong dialect. This paper aimed at internally exploring Qiandong dialect finals to lay the foundation of reclassification and reconstruction of proto-Miao finals. Meanwhile, this thesis will add some words which Prof.Wang hasn’t found out their correspondence forms in Reconstruction of proto-Miao Language, in some extent, it is a complement of the study on finals. This article discusses from the following aspects:Chapter one is a general introduction, the object of this thesis and its significance, related research status, methods and achievements in the field of finals, source of corpus and problems which may be met will be discussed in this part. From Chapter two to Chapter five, historical comparative method and some phonetics theory will be used to analyze monophthong final、diphthong final、 pre-nasal coda and post-nasal coda. On this basis, how the thirty proto-finals evolved in sub-dialect of Qiandong dialect will be discussed, is the most important parts of the essay. By comparison, we found some of the598core words in Reconstruction of proto-Miao Language that Prof.Wang proposed are Chinese loanwords obviously. To these words, whether we can find their corresponding forms in sub-dialect of Qiandong dialect, we will keep them in this paper. Chapter six is the summary. It summarizes the conditions and characteristics of sound change in Qiandong dialect. This article also make up for some missing words which haven’t yet been found their corresponding forms in Reconstruction of proto-Miao Language. This paper is the first one that studies the corresponding rule on final in Qiandong dialect. It is really a pity that the range of study is limited in Qiandong dialect due to lacking corpus of eastern dialect and westerndialect of Miao Language, moreover, lacking in speculative knowledge concern, this study is not that deep and the conclusion maybe not that exact. We hope do some contrastive study deeply in these three dialects if the condition permitted later, and also wish more scholars could concentrat on the field of finals in Miao-Yao Language.
