| At all times and in all countries, marriage in one’s life represents a new beginning and new hope, so will be very important to a person or family.Marriage as a "public event", their sphere of influence relates to a lot of people within the family or outside the family. It seems just like a combination of one man and woman, but actually it also plays effective method to maintaining and strengthening the relatives like friends or colleagues. Especially in the traditional East Asian cultures, marriage is more stressed as a combination between the two families. That is to say in the traditional culture of East Asia, the family is the basic unit of society, and the individual is a part of family relationship. This paper is mainly concerned with the concept of combining, so marriage is mainly focused on combination of two families, namely "combination of group and group"In the wedding process, various exchange occurs, not only the bride price, there is congratulatory money between the guests and owner of the ceremony. These exchanges contain all aspects of family economy, politics, culture and social values. Thus can provide valuable information for the study about social family scale, family structure, family ethics and interpersonal relationship. All the same time, the scale of the congratulatory money and the guest structure also have important significance. Now the Korean-Chinese society also naturally retains congratulatory money cultures. In traditional Korean society, exchange is mainly in the form of labor, through this process, not only in labor and material got help, spirit has also been enhanced. So this use "gift" to explain the concept of a variety of gifts in the wedding. Gifts were actually habitual behavior in wedding, he may be the will of the individual, or the social sense of responsibility by force, for whatever reason, gift as a general elements form of marriage, in the maintenance of social relations is indeed plays a big role. Especially in the study of congratulatory money angle, give how much is a key problem. At first glance seem to rely on personal choice, but is actually decided according to the importance of interpersonal relationship around individual.Korean-Chinese wedding includes all aspects of his life habit, aesthetic art, ethics, interpersonal relationships and other content, is a comprehensive reflection of Korean traditional culture. From the specific steps to exchange goods, and the congratulatory money of guests, must distinguish from other nationalities of China and the Korean traditional wedding. So in this paper, research object is the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture from nineteen sixties to now, investigate the exchange contents in one wedding between two families, and apply the reciprocity principle, research the main form and change of Korean wedding exchange. At the same time, survey the relationship between guest and host, and the changes of Korean relationship since the60’s. About Chinese traditional marriage, Zhang Yingxiu mentioned three concepts, one of marriage Pinquhun is the groom’s family give the bride’s family amount of gift as a marriage conditions. According to historical records, Pinquhun is widely used in ancient China, and would be referenced and applied in the modern Korean-Chinese wedding exchange.About the wedding gift exchange, many scholars have studied before. First of all in the name of the gift, Chinese Li Yinhe in his "love and marriage" chose the "marriage payment", South Korea’s Kim Molan used the "marriage deal". But author thinks that the two words in the expression of its profound significance are lacking, the first "marriage payment" did not see the reciprocal process, the second "marriage deal" too much emphasized the economic side, but ignored the emotion exchange, so this paper will choose the "marriage exchange" as a key word.In gift exchange, always be talked theory is "reciprocity" principle, it can be applied to explain the psychological mechanism of wedding exchange behavior, especially the motivational explanations of gifts and favors. On this, the first study is the "the spirit of gift" from Mauss, which "Intangibles" is drive people to do favors. After a number of scholars like Malinowski and Sahlins have enriched the theory. That is to say a person do "give" is a kind of behavior from looking forward to "accept", a "return" is a kind of behavior from afraid that other side will stop "giving". So most of the behaviors are based on reciprocal gift and the links, both get the equal benefits. Malinowski’s interpretation of the "the spirit of gift", explored this issue in a more realistic and rational point, can be regarded as a progress. But Malinowski’s views on the principle of reciprocity is too inclined to gift exchange rational motives, the behavior of people only as the computational behavior, rarely saw the emotion and moral behavior of exchange. The reciprocal behaviors are common in many societies. But in each society, these behaviors playing how much components, or if you don’t keep the principle of reciprocity will have what kind of sanctions, or how to reflect the members of the society in daily life, these problems are each different.Reciprocity in China appears as "Renqing", in South Korea appears as "pum-a-xi"."Renqing" is a core concept in Chinese social system, sometimes the behavior of gift exchange can establish and maintain or break off relationships. One of the representative scholars in "Renqing" studies is Jin yao-ji, followed by Huang Guangguo, Yang Zhongfang, Yan Yunxiang etc.. And there are Hao Guoqiang, Yang Chengsheng, Ren Huiming applied the "Renqing" to the wedding favor exchange. The "Renqing" is also can be used in Korean-Chinese society. In60’s and70’s, blood or kinship based "Renqing" played a leading role, in recent years many other connections play important roles. And be used interpersonal relationship are different in each event, in funeral and sacrifice mainly use blood and genetic relationship, in wedding more widely use workmate or classmate etc.At present, Korean-Chinese society’s traditional wedding related literature material are many, but the research about the specific interpersonal relationship and social relationship network is insufficient. Over the years study of Korean wedding all focused on the program or wedding surface phenomenon, but did not see the principle or the role during the gift flow.So this paper takes Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture as the research object, classify the wedding exchange phenomenon from Korean immigrants to the early now, and analyze the following three contents. The first is the exchange between bride and groom, mainly about the bride price, dowry and wedding need etc.. Second is the exchange between the host and guests, mainly about the congratulatory money and return. Third is the exchange of other forms. This paper will focus on the first and second exchanges, research all kinds of wedding gift exchanges in Yanbian Korean-Chinese society. |
