As a sunrise industry in the development of modern society, cultural industry has more and more infiltrated into people’s production and lifestyle, especially when cultural industry is listed as prioritizing industry in Chinese " Twelve-Five Planning " period, people have come to realize the enormous potential of it. Yunnan took the lead to develop the advantage of Yunnan cultural industry in the early2000century, and in recent years the added value of cultural industry to GDP has consistently been top rated in China, but when it comes to cultural industries in Yunnan, people pay more attention to the national performing arts industry, jewelry industry, tea industry, cultural tourism, folk crafts and civil arts. For the attention of art industry, it is mainly refers to the heritage industry and the auction industry. Due to historical reasons, the majority of Chinese people are used to set art market in opposition to art ideology and economic concepts in opposition to aesthetic idea, only address social benefits of the arts but ignores the economic benefits of it, which cannot meet the needs of artistic production development under the market context in theoretical research. However, because of the reform and openness, consumption times has come into China, which makes artists and their works go into the public’s perspective with business-like, then the concomitance of art and commerce comes into the first art market--gallery. As art commercialization basis market, gallery is the most important aspects of developing arts industry chain, an important place to cultivate the art market and public aesthetic level. Nevertheless when Yunnan develops ethnic culture industry, has been ignoring the importance of gallery and the art market in the development of the arts industry. This article attempts by analyzing the causes of gallery in the mass consumption, the specific Yunnan gallery phenomenon, and Yunnan contemporary art’s unique status and influence in China, using the principle of mass consumption theory, culture economics, art marketing, to indicate Yunnan develop gallery’s importance and relevance, to explore Yunnan gallery industry future developing path and methods, to provide ideas and direction to the development of contemporary art industry in Yunnan.
