Amy Tan is the one of the hottest American women writers of Chinese decent in the Western literary world since the1990s. Her article is not only welcome by the majority of Western readers and retaining its position on the U.S. bestseller list, but also she has become the new darling of the United States colleges and universities of Chinese literature research institutions. Her success has been marginalized ethnic Chinese literature to win the Western mainstream literary more attention. Her works have a strong feminine color. The hero almost all women, from beginning to end are to master by the women have the right to speak in her novel. The most impressive is the mother and daughter characters in her articles. Her delicate and warmth description emotionally dispute that eager to get close to contradictory between mothers and daughters in the two different cultures conflict. The mother-daughter relationship has no only become a constant theme of the Amy Tan novel writing, but also the basic story framework in all her novel. She described women have been given more meaning, they not only is the inheritance of the blood is the carrier of the cultural heritage.This thesis will be deep analysis and research the mother-daughter relationship on the basis of previous studies and use of the feminist perspective.Combined with Amy Tan’s five novels and her latest collection of essays. The thesis has three parts:in the first part introduces the life of Amy Tan’s creation, achievements and research status. The second part mainly analyzes the characteristics of the mother-daughter relationship. From three female image on the mother-daughter relationship chain, the fixed pattern of the mother-daughter relationship and a mother-daughter relationship thinking behind three parts to elaborate. The third part is a combination of the advantages of the subject to compare Amy Tan’s works and Contemporary Chinese Women Writers maternal Writing. To distinguish the identical and difference between them. Finally, elaborating the value of Amy Tan’s articles in the history of Chinese American Literature.
