“Jiangnan Sizhu”, known as a kind of traditional Chinese musical performance in the region of South of Yangtze River, is usually performed by “Erhu”, one of the Chinese traditional musical instruments, and the performance skills of which are with unique artistic characteristics. This article, starting with an analysis on the artistic technique of the master piece of “Xingjie”, which is one out of eight grand “Sizhu” melodies, butnow using “Erhu” to perform it as to explore the similarity and specialty between the both types of instruments, as the reference for further research on as how traditional musical instruments work better in Chinese traditional master pieces.
