Revolutionary historical teleplays are typical of TV plays with Chinese characteristics, in which the audience are educated on revolutionary tradition and patriotism by revolutionary stories of the communist party of China. In this thesis, the author tries to interpret the deep connotation of its aesthetic transition in forms through analyzing evolution of revolutionary historical TV plays,In this thesis, the author firstly defines relevant concepts in detail, and concludes the occurrence and developmental process of the revolutionary historical teleplays and its historical formation as follows:In the1980’s, depiction of characters in revolutionary historical teleplays was based on the concept of "class revolution" which produced a tendency of "binary opposition" in creation; In the1990’s, revolutionary historical teleplays had more popularized art form under the influence of mass culture and new historical trend of thought; Since the21century, it was under the interaction of political discourse, elite discourse and public discourse that revolutionary historical teleplays had brand-new aesthetic features. Then the author probes into its change of aesthetic ideology in art categorization, narrative mode, performance of characters and characterization to find the development of art law.Today revolutionary historical teleplays have developed prosperously, earth-shaking changes have taken place in its aesthetic features but it is still carrying historical mission of propaganda and educating the masses. The unification of ideological content, artistry and ornamental value will be its constant developmental direction.
