| As one of the most significant cultural characteristics in Mosuo society, Tisese of the Yongning Mosuo has received extensive attention of academic circles. For the Mosuo, Tisese is not only closely related to personal growth, more carries with many aspects of traditional culture. Its evolution and development is affected by many external factors and internal demand, at the same time also restrict and promote the changes in different aspects of the social culture. In this process, one of the most important points is the maintenance and promotion from a outside religion to the local institution of marriage, which is because of the incoming of Tibetan Buddhism. The deep relationship between Tibetan Buddhism and marriage has appeared gradually in the historical development and the changes of their tradition, and more than likely has a certain universal significance in some cultural areas that have the same cultural characteristics. Therefore, this paper takes the relationship between Tisese and Tibetan Buddhism as the main line. Tracing back the historical process of Tibetan Buddhism and Tisese colliding and adapting to each other, the paper analyses the internal mechanism of the tolerance and adaptation, and then discusses the maintenance and promotion from Tibetan Buddhism to Tisese.The paper is divided into three parts which are introduction, text and conclusion, and five chapters: The first chapter,"introduction", introduces the origin and meaning of the topic, making a brief review of " functionalism", and discussing the study about Tisese and Tibetan Buddhism of Mosou in detail. Because there are few predecessors’ studies about the relationship between Tibetan Buddhism and Tisese, and the topic has certain academic significance and realistic meaning, so I try to do some study about that.The second chapter,"The girl country in others’eyes-line drawing of the Mosuo society", starting with natural environment, ethnic interaction, social and historical situation about Yongning, this chapter presents humanities and geography overview in detail and explains the emergence and development of Tisese, which is a unique marriage custom in Mosuo society.The third chapter,"Out-of-town buddha:introduction and development of Tibetan Buddhism", focuses on the spread and development of Tibetan Buddhism in Yongning, pays attention to how Tibetan Buddhism integrated into Mosuo society, including approval, acceptance and veneration in different aspects and levels, such as history and reality, social and personal identity. Tibetan Buddhism in Yongning has got support from Tusi family and society, and made a big difference in Mosuo society, especially to their unique marriage institution.The fourth chapter,"collision and adaptation:the maintenance and promotion from Tibetan Buddhism to Tisese", focuses on the relationship between Tibetan Buddhism and Tisese, and discusses how Tibetan Buddhism and Tisese intertwine, treat and affect each other. Throughout the history during which Tibetan Buddhism was introduced to the Mosuo traditional society, we can see that Tibetan Buddhism has maintained and promoted the development of Tisese. The deep relationship between Tibetan Buddhism and Tisese is established on the basis of mutual interaction. It continues up till today also because of meeting certain functional requirements.The conclusion summarizes the relationships between Tisese and Tibetan Buddhism. Under social norms, the Yongning Mosuo Tibetan Buddhist Lama can have Tisese relations with local Mosuo women. The reason of this phenomenon is that the adapting relationship between the two is generally accepted by Mosuo society, and associates with the cultural subjectivity interaction and self-cognition. In addition, in the process of the historical development and traditional change, their adapting relations also reflect certain functional requirement. It is this function of meeting both sides and social needs that makes a relatively reasonable explanation of the how and why the Tibetan Buddhism maintains and promotes Tisese. Finally, the study about the relationships between Tisese and Tibetan Buddhism also involves the social and cultural change. Therefore, the study about that should continue constantly. |
