| There are two situations of Chinese Language education in Myanmar; teaching Chinese as a mother-tongue language and Chinese as a second language.The main institutions of teaching Chinese as a second language in Myanmar are University of Foreign Language,Confucius classroom and some private tuitions. In addition to these institutions, other Chinese schools are basically using mother-tongue teaching methods. Among them, there are only two University (Yangon University of Foreign Language, YUFL and Mandalay University of Foreign Language MUFL) that are founded and supported by the Myanmar Government. Due to a lack of a localized set of teaching materials for Chinese Language teaching in Myanmar, University of Foreign Language, FuQing Confucius Classroom and some private schools have to adopt the published textbooks of People’s Republic of China.But, are these materials suitable for Myanmar students or not? Which topics they really need and which topics they are interested in? We need explore this problem further. Therefore, this thesis selected the Chinese language teaching materials which are adopted by the two University of Foreign Language in Myanmar as research object, and analyze the arrangement of topics in these materials. Moreover, the author designed the questionnaire, whose object are the students from the two University of Foreign Language, in order to understand what teaching topics and vocabularies the students are really interested in. This research hopes that, the choice of the topics and related vocabularies will provide a useful exploration and reference for the development of the University of Myanmar localized Chinese teaching materials and Chinese language teaching. |
