His unique creation has a great impact on many writers. Some even said20th century’s literature belongs to Kafka. The Castle is Kafka’s most important writing which has demonstrated his feature. A variety of explanation of this writing occurred, because it has not been completed and mysterious.the theme of the castle is "seeking the theme of no paternosier" and it embodies the " archetype of seeking" in the collective unconscious。Its old-fashioned psychology content made it attractive and echoed in people’s mind of different generations. Every time when the society has made people become frustrated, the theme will be waked up in the form of literature. The Castle was created when the society was experiencing division, unstable situation, racial conflict, capitalism and incoming war. People in that age felt living crisis was near. The crisis propelled people into dead valley. Kafka had an acute sense of this crisis, The Castle was then created to illustrate his feeling and forecast the depression. The theme of The Castle is dim and full of ambiguity. There’s no accurate time and place in the story, the leading character has no nationality and identity, the whole story is mysterious. But it’s clear that the leading character is striving for survival but unsuccessful. Leading character K exhibits a paradoxical feature. The feature is surprisingly similar to his experience. He felt the incoming of depression and warned the coming misery. This has made The Castle a predictable story. The living condition reflected in The Castle has indeed come true thereafter. All in all, chasing is an old theme, character K’s chasing and discovery is the ultimate living mode of human. His story predicts the future and serves as a guidance and warning of human’s survival. | Keywords/Search Tags: | The Castle, archetype of seeking, cultural choice, paradoxprediction | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
