As the old saying goes,"Where books are, there is figure." With thedevelopment of society, the way to categorize books becomes more detailed, and theappliance of illustration is more and more abroad. In the design of childrenspicture-book, illustration is not just a small picture hiding in these pages and work forthe words anymore. It appears in every part. The narrative method of picture-book isusing the combination of figures and words which made illustration be essential totell the whole story. Secondly, figures significant in picture-books decides by the littlereaders’ particularity. They know fewer characters, have less reading consciousnessand the ability about independent reading compare with the adults. Pictures showsmore attractive than words to children. Also the information transmission by picturesis easier for them to accept. Unfortunately, illustrators always pay such moreattention on frame effects or personal style than childrens emotion need whichopposed to the principles that childrens picture-book should based on childrenspsychology that decrease the instructive of the picture-books. Therefore creatorsshould balance childrens emotion need and the emphases about illustrationsexpression and regard it as the beginning of the work. For this reason I chose thissubject as my research project. Hope it can arouse illustrators attention on theinfluence about illustration creation which from childrens emotion need. Make theircreation combines both the childrens emotion need and the emphases aboutillustrations expression for a better work which have both artistic effect and humancare.This paper is based on the current study situation. Chapter1clarified theconcepts about picture-books illustration and childrens emotion need. Chapter2made an analysis on childrens emotion need and the creative theory under theemotion need from different aspects, such as childrens growth stage, sex differenceand atmosphere. Chapter3discussed the key point of illustration creation which isunder the influence of childrens emotion need, such as color applies, characterscreating, picture composition and atmospheres construct. Chapter4combines boththe theoretical property of illustration and my own creation practice and sums up what the instructive and inspiration did I get from this research subject. By allaccounts, childrens emotion need can be divided into to get the positive affectionand to mediate the negative affection. And illustrators should take satisfies emotiondemands of children as the creative theory and the final objective when theyworks.As a carrier, picture-books provide abundant creation space to illustrators andstimulate illustrators creative impulse. The colorful pictures not only give zest tochildrens life, even to their spiritual growth, illustrations shows an incapable strength.Meanwhile, my attitude to illustration from being absorbed to understanding andrational analysis after the research of this task. On the other hand, I realize that noone can create an artwork by a moments enthusiasm. Only careful arrangements,reasonable judgment and repeated deliberation can inspire ones creation. Onlyconform to the real life can make the artistic creation goes on. And as so as theillustration.
