Objective:The purpose of the study is focusing on the diagnostic value of serum5microRNAs (miRNAs)(miR-31, miR-107, miR-155, miR-200c and miR-205) as biomarkers for early stage breast cancer. Methods:According to bioinformatics database miRWalk, five microRNAs (miRNAs) were chosen to be the specific biomarkers for early stage breast cancer diagnosis. The relative expression levels of miRNAs in serum samples of42normal controls and66breast cancer patients were evaluated by Reverse Transcription and quantitative Real-time Polymerase Cycle Reaction (RT-qPCR). Specificity and sensitivity were analyzed by the areas under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of these miRNAs.Results:The expression levels of miR-31(RQ=7.283, p<0.001), miR-107(RQ=1.863, p=0.002), miR-155(RQ=0.892, p=0.028), miR-200c (RQ=2.089, p=0.009), miR-205(RQ=3.918, p=0.016) were observed to be significantly different in serum of early stage breast cancer patients than in healthy controls. There was no significantly association of five serum miRNAs with estrogen/progesterone receptor level in early stage BC patients. Moreover, the serum levels of miR-31were significantly different in two stages, miR-107were only significantly different in stage II. The ROC analyses yielded the highest AUC values for combination of miR-31, miR-107and miR-200c with a sensitivity of78.6and a specificity of88.7.Conclusion:The combination of miR-31, miR-107and miR-200c have a great possibility to become the new potential biomakers for early stage breast cancer union detection.
