Purpose:To determine the expression and clinical significance of TACC1and TFF3in human gastric cancer development and progression. Methods:It was detected in surgically resected gastric carcinoma tissue specimens from112patients by immunohistochemistry. Relationship between expression of TACC1/TFF3and other clinicopathological variables was analyzed by χ2test or Fisher’s Exact test. Survival analysis was used to assess their prognostic value in patients with gastric carcinoma.Results:57(51%) out of112pateints expressed TACC1,56(50%) expressed TFF3. Their expressions were both closely related to lymph node metastasis, tumor stages and recurrence (P<0.05). In addition, TFF3expression was linked to tumor size, and histological differentiation (P<0.05). Univariate survival analysis showed that clinical variables, including age, Lymph node metastasis, TACC1expression and TFF3expression significantly associated with overall survival. And patients with both TACC1and TFF3expressions have the shortest survival than other groups. The result of multivariate analysis showed that TACC1and TFF3expression was independent predictor of patients’survival, respectively. Conclusion:The data suggest that TACC1and TFF3expressions play a vital role in gastric cancer development, and they may be independent predictors of short term prognosis.
