Objective: the objects of our research are the physicians over all stages,which includes the ones who are accepting basic emergency training, the ones finished the subspeciality training and the ones who can be competent for their emergency position. In order to construct a basket of appropriate and systematic Evaluation Indicators, the research was taken place. Base on the basket of evaluation indicators, we are dedicated to develop the evaluation tool which is based on competency for emergency physicians. Otherwise, clarifying the competency for every stage of emergency physician development helps with the instruction of standardized management, training and valuation for emergency physicians, at the same time, it also helps with the development of physician ability and skills, after all the progresses take place the service of emergency caring would be improved gradually.Method:1)Literature search and review:study all literature materials connected to competency of emergency physicians and physician competency thoroughly.2) Method of hemi-structure interview: Used the method of hemi-structure interview to extract the theoretical framework of emergency physician evaluation indicators of our country.3) Expert-consulting method:Used the expert-consulting method to abstract competency of emergency physicians4) Expert meeting method:Used the expert meeting method to revise the competency indicators5) Survey methodology:Implemented a survey with questionnaires to check the availability and practicability of the competency indicators listed previously.6) Method of statistical analysis:Used the method of statistical analysis to make a comparison over the evaluation of each group of emergency physicians.Result:1) finished the reviewing of emergency physician competency, evaluation for physician competency and the result of evaluation developments; finished the translation of Milestone competency indicators which was developed for American emergency; based on the theoretical framework of Milestone, we developed a theoretical framework for competency evaluation indicators which was conducted by the requirement of the professional field.2) designed the elementary self-estimate questionnaire which was revised and completed conducted by the expert-consulting method soon afterwards and developed into the final self-estimate questionnaire for emergency physicians.3) After the survey with questionnaires implemented over the emergency department in tertiary hospitals in Beijing area, we have figured out that age, title and time for working in emergency field were the main factors connected to physician competence, while education, major and whether they have been accepted the standardized training of resident physicians showed no significant connection.Conclusion:Using the methods of literature review, expert-consulting, expert-interview ect, we have developed6dimensions,(including:patient caring, medical acknowledges and skills, personnel communication abilities, managing skills, teaching and researching skills and professional characteristics)13items of core competency which includes5levels for each item. Furthermore, based on the achievement mentioned previously, we have developed the self-estimate questionnaire for emergency physicians. Sampling survey was implemented over the emergency department of tertiary hospitals in Beijing area for investigating the competence level of the physicians and the main indicators that connected to their competency. Now we can make a conclusion over the whole research which is that the training based on competency for medical personnel is not only an ideal trend for international medical education, it also turns out to be a significant training mode for improving the competence level of emergency physicians. Otherwise, this training mode helps physicians to do a better job on their positions and standardizing cultivating system for diplomates as well.
