Background:Also known as ventricular premature, ventricular contractions is a common arrhythmia, when it happens the patient will feel palpitations, chest tightness and other symptoms, severe symptoms may occur on ventricular premature patients and cause hemodynamic disorders, it may lead to more serious arrhythmias, or even threaten the patient’s life, therefore, doctors are actively looking for effective drug treatment for premature ventricular contractions, and doing their best efforts to improve the quality of life of patients. Recent studies in the medical treatment of premature ventricular contractions achieved good results, which can not only alleviate heart palpitations, chest tightness and other symptoms and improve the prognosis and quality of life of patients, and significantly reduced side effects. In recent years, Chinese medicine treatment of premature ventricular contractions reported a lot, but mostly of the studies is a small sample size, and the quality is uneven, the exact effect of the lack of multi-center, effectively support large scale clinical trials. Compared to other Western medicine, Chinese medicine treatment of premature ventricular contractions oral efficacy and safety has not been systematically evaluated. Objective:To assess the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of ventricular premature complexes (VPC).Methods:We searched the literature associated with randomized controlled trials (RCT) or quasi-RCT of TCM in treating VPC patients from PubMed, Chinese Biology Medicine disc For Internet (CBM Web), Chinese Medical Current Content (CMCC), VIP Chinese science and Technology Periodical Database,CNKI ChinaJournal Full-text Database, and Wan Fang Database (update to Feb2011). Quality of them was evaluated by the method-Jadad Score, and statistical analysis was performed using the Cochrane Collaboration’s Rev Man4.2software.Results:14trials involving1330VPC patients (667patients in the treated group and663patients in the control group). All the included were greater than or equal to score two (Jadad Score). Per-protocol analysis showed RR (random)=1.16, 95%CI[1.06,1.26], P=0.002<0.05;and Tntention-To-Treat analysis showed RR (random)=1.15,95%CI[1.05,1.25], P=0.002<0.05。Conclusion:According to the present evidence, TCM in the treatment of VPC is effective. But more well designed randomized controlled trials are required.
