In recent years, the incidence of hyperlipidemia (HLP) has significantly increased, especially in young and middle-aged population. The major clinical therapy to HLP is western medicine, which shows us an effective control of blood lipid level, but can not achieve full compliance. Moreover, lipid-lowering drugs of western medicine have apparent side effects. It was also then that Chinese herbal medicine became favored by patients, due to its deriving from natural herbs and fewer toxic and side effects. Objective:To investigate the improvement of outcome measures of the patients with HLP who were under the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine with the efficacy of Huatanquyu ruanjiansanjie based on lipid-lowering drugs of western medicine and objectively assess the efficacy and safety of the treatment. Methods:According to the inclusion criteria,55patients with primary hyperlipidemia were randomly divided into treatment group (combination therapy group, n=28) and control group (pure western medicine group, n=27). Control group were given atorvastatin calcium tablets20mg/d, treatment group were given isodose atorvastatin calcium tablets and Chinese medicine granules with the efficacy of Huatanquyu ruanjiansanjie. The course lasted4weeks. Record the variation of blood lipid levels (including TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C), atherogenic index and TCM syndromes before and after the course of the treatment. After the clinical obersavition, process the data and make detailed statistical analysis.Result1. There is no statistically significant difference in gender, age, course of disease and blood lipid lever between the two groups (P>0.05).2. The judgement of curative effectâ‘ The total effective rate was92%in the treatment group and84%in the control group. There is no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).â‘¡The levels of TC, TG, LDL-C decrease while the level of HDL-C increase after4weeks of treatment in treatment group. There is a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). There is also a reduction of TC, TG, LDL-C levels with an statistically significant difference (P<0.01), but the addition of HDL-C level has no statistically significant difference (P>0.05) in the control group. Compare with the control groups, the treatment group can make a evident decline of TC level and elevation of HDL-C level, which shows a statistically significant difference (P<0.01). There is no statistically significant difference between the two groups in reducing the level of TG and HDL-C.â‘¢The atherogenic index was decreased in both groups after treatment, the level of AI in treatment group is statistically significant different (P<0.01), while there is difference (P<0.05) in the control group and comparison between the two groups.â‘£The total effective rate of TCM was92%in the treatment group and76%in the control group. There is a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The integral of TCM syndrome were both descended obviously in the two groups, and the comparison of integral of TCM syndrome between the two groups shows a statistically significant difference (P<0.01).During the course of clinical trial, there are no obvious side effects in both groups. Conclusion:Comparing with the treatment of pure atorvastatin calcium, traditional Chinese medicine with the efficacy of Huatanquyu ruanjiansanjie combined with atorvastatin calcium can effectively improve the levels of blood lipids and atherogenic index, relieve clinical TCM syndrome, especially in improving the level of TC, HDL-C, AI and TCM syndrome.
