Purpose:research the TCM syndrome, characteristics, the essentials of the diagnosis and the TCM syndrome distribution characteristics of the hallux valgus patients.Method:consult the traditional medicine classics and the public issuing periodical literatures according to the key words "arthromyodynia","joint semidislocation, sinew out-of-trough","Hallux valgus"; consolidate and reorganize the name of disease, etiology and pathogenesis as well as the TCM syndrome. In the the2nd joint department of Wangjing Hospital, they make a questionnaire survey on the hallux valgus patients and collect the basic information, local symptom and constitutional symptom of the patients; referring to the 《syndrome factor differentiation》, they quantify the symptoms, build up the SPSS databass, induce the differentiation factors, conclude the TCM syndrome in the methods of hierarchical clustering analysis and express clustering analysis and research various symptom distribution law and the essentials of diagnosis with the frequency analysis.Result:in the Chinese medicine books, there are many diseases such as "bone arthromyodynia","joint semidislocation, sinew out-of-trough"and so on which are similar to the hallux valgus. Similar Chinese medicine etiology and pathogenesis of hallux valgus:the liver and kidney deficiency and weak bones and muscles are the pathological basis of the disease."Humid","stagnate","deficiency","cauma","cold" cause the joint semidislocation and sinew out-of-trough, it’s the basic pathology. The ral situation of the deficiency of liver and kidney and qi-stagnancy and blood stasis run through the whole pathological process.300hallux valgus patients accept the investigation. Most of them are symptoms. The symptoms of deficiency of liver and kidney, accumulated dampness-heat, qi-stagnancy and blood stasis and Yang deficiency and cold coagulation appear frequently. According to the symptoms, kidney deficiency, liver deficiency, spleen deficiency, yin deficiency, yang deficiency, deficiency of qi, blood deficiency, blood stasis, qi-stagnation, dampness-heat, cold dampness, etc. eleven dialectical elements are concluded and there are clustering analysis of deficiency of liver and kidney, qi-stagnation and blood stasis, Yang deficiency and cold coagulation and accumulated dampness-heat these4main TCM syndromes. Conclusion:hallux valgus is a kind of disease of various pathogenesis,"Humid","stagnate","deficiency","cauma", and "cold"are the main pathogenic factors. The etiology and pathogenesis are mainly the liver and kidney deficiency and humid, deficiency, cauma, and cold. Kidney-Yang deficiency, kidney-Yin deficiency, Deficiency of Spleen Yang, blood stasis, stagnation of qi, dampness-heat, and cold-dampness are the essential differential elements. Efficiency of liver and kidney, qi-stagnancy and blood stasis, Yang deficiency and cold coagulation and accumulated dampness-heat are the common TCM syndromes of hallux valgus.
