Voice Coil Motor (VCM) is a special kind of linear Motor, It can convertelectrical signal to linear displacement directly and without any intermediateconversion device. It can eliminate the mechanical wear from transmissionmechanisms. VCM’s working principle is based on the lorentz force,permanent magnets generate magnetic field around the air gap and form acertain magnetic field intensity. Coils produce electromagnetic force in themagnetic field, the size and direction of it can be changed by changing current.VCM has characteristics such as simple structure, small volume, high speed,high frequency response, so it get widespread attention and widely used in inprecision distance measurement instruments, aerospace, precision instrumentlathes, computer storage devices, etc. VCM can achieve precise servo position,so it has wide application prospect in field of precision machining occasionswith short trip, high frequency, reciprocating linear motion. At present, the voicecoil motor has enter in effective application field and has a rapid developmentinoperation theory, structure design,control technology, etc.The structure design, electromagnetic field, temperature field, driverhardware and control system of voice coil motor are respectively studied in thispaper.First, based on VCM’s principle, structure classification, applicationscope, according to the design principle of voice coil motor, we designpermanent magnets from coil layers and permanent magnets.Second, electromagnetic field analysis and temperature field analysis ofvoice coil motor are studied on the basis of the finite element theory, and theadvantages of permanent magnets with Halbach array are proved.Third, the driver hardware and control system are designed. The controlcircuit board is based on TMS320F28335DSP, other circuits are designedaround this DSP, such as PWM power drive circuit, D/A conversion circuit,interface circuit, etc. Finally, we set up experimental platform to measure the thrust andtemperature of voice coil motor respectively. Compared with the simulationanalysis to confirm the reliability and authenticity of the analysis.
