Analysis And Design Of Electronic Chart Systems

The total number of vessels which were equiped with Chart Plottee or Electronic Chart Display Information Systems(ECDIS) has reached two hundred thousand since1995, and there was corresponding increase of the research institutes and manufacturers. Many countries have produced kinds of electronic chart display systems.Usually,these systems are only linked with GPS, the data of many other kinds of marine instruments can not be used by them, that do not fully meet the requirements of the international maritimeorganization. The ways of overlay GPS,AIS,radar,compass,vialog information with ECDIS have lead the trend of the development, and ECDIS has become the important part of Integrated Bridge System(IBS).After researching the demand analysis of ECDIS and drawing on international experience of the establishing a information system, the author build a ECDIS which adapt the particular usage of on board system. The system can plot the radar and AIS target on the electronic charts, and report the emergency of navigational situation, Shoals,sunken ship.Simultaneously, the system analyse the information of navigational sensors such as heading, speed, water depth,wind speed, wind direction. The result of the analysis can aid the chart plot and improve the safety of sailing.This dissertation was accomplished based on the implementation of the system.Firstly,the author introduces the research background of electronic chart system and the current research situation in domestic and offshore.Secondly, the author put forward the aim of system establishment,and derive the demand analysis such as business requirements,functional requirements and usage requirements.Thirdly,the author draw the operations flowchart,E-R diagram,put forward overall design,module design and UI design,elaborates the system. Finally,the author summarize the research contents and put forward some proposals to improve the deficiency.
