Moving target tracking under dynamic background is researched with altazimuth astronomical telescope in this paper. The analog video signal from CCD module is converted into digital video signal through decoding module. And the digital video signal is transmitted to FPGA for image processing and displaying. According to the target displacement on display, the servo-control system is controlled to track moving target.First of all, the optical system in altazimuth astronomical telescope is introduced. CCD module is also analyzed in detail. Moreover, decoding module is designed to decode analog video signal and double frequency for image processing.Secondly, Self-adapting Gauss smoothing filter is presented to track moving target. This method can not only smooth images for filtering noise but also reduce the conflict between edge detection and image smoothing. And Sobel operator is adopted to detect target’s edge effectively. And a method of correlation matching tracking based on edge detection is designed more.Thirdly, a servo-control system is designed according to structure characteristics of altazimuth astronomical telescope. Servo control circuit is designed with STM32microcontroller as core controller, it can control altazimuth astronomical telescope on two dimensions. According to the principle of stepper motor, stepper motor driver is designed with DRV8829from TI company, which can drive stepper motor to rotate steadily. Additionally, TFT touch screen module is designed for system debugging and observation. With Nios II soft-core, underlying drivers of TFT and application program of uC/GUI graphical interface system are developed.Finally, experimental results are given, and these results show that each module runs well and system can reach the expected effect.
