Solar energy is a kind of ideal renewable energy. Photovoltaic technology is considered to be one of the hottest topics and of great potential for development in solar energy field. Photovoltaic controller is an important component of photovoltaic power generation system. This paper presents the design and implementation of photovoltaic controller based on ARM9, concerning the current development and the advantages of ARM micro-controller.Firstly, the paper analyzes the output characteristics of photovoltaic array, using the utility model in MATLAB platform. The paper also describes the impact between output characteristics and light intensity and temperature based on the outcome of simulation, laying foundations for further MPPT study.Secondly, comparisons are made between different MPPT algorithms based on MPPT principles. The paper proposes an improved incremental conductance method to achieve the maximum power point tracking. And it also set model simulation of perturbation and observation method and improved incremental conductance method,and made comparisons of the outcomes. Results shows that both methods could realize MPPT, but the effect of perturbation and observation method is of better effect.Also, the topology of DC/DC conversion circuit in MTTP system is summarized, choosing BUCK circuit as the main topology for the design of controller. And the main circuit parameters is presented in detail. The design of hardware circuit based on ARM9S3C2440design.Finally, controller core and bottom board are manufactured as PCB board by CADENCE Allegro software. The paper realizes complete simulation of high-speed signal units on elements core board. During the internship, the main hardware modules of the controller are detailed debugged with good outcomes. Debugging results shows the normal functioning of designed photovoltaic module.
