Our country is characterized by large amount of energy consumption and energy deficiency. Therefore, the country strictly implements the policy of saving energy. Cogeneration is a highly efficient way of energy production by the joint production of heat and power. Compared with the separate generation of power and heat, it can significantly improve fuel utilization efficiency and is recognized, by the whole world, as an important measure to save energy, improve environment, and enhance the functions of urban infrastructure. With good economic and social benefits, and as an important technical means of circular economy, it is given great importance by all the countries in the world. The waste heat from average power plant is put to use by cogeneration to provide cheap heat for domestic and industrial heating, which can significantly improve the thermal efficiency. The producing mode of producing power and using the steam that have been used by turbine generator to provide heat for users by power plants refers to the process of producing power and heat at the same time which can save fuel compared with the separate production of power and heat. The coal plant which runs in a cogeneration way is called thermal power plant. The steam source for external supply of heat is the steam extraction by extraction steam turbine or exhaust steam by back-pressure steam turbine and the pressure is usually0.75~1.58MPa and0.12-0.56MPa respectively. The former is for industrial production and the latter is for civil heating. There is no cold source loss for steam in cogeneration, so the thermal efficiency can be raised to85%which is much higher than big condensing steam turbine (whose thermal efficiency is40%) Cogeneration not only can save large amount of energy, but also can improve the environment condition and raise residents’ life standard. But the cogeneration links power generation by power plants with heat use by users, which decreases flexibility and increases the investment of power plants. Therefore, good comprehensive benefits can be gained only by overall arrangement for city planning and district heating area and by determining a reasonable construction plan under the condition of full guarantee of heat load.A feasibility research is not only a scientific approach but a working stage that provides reliable basis for project investment decision-making, so it plays an important part in making investment decisions. A thermoelectric project has such features:massive investment, long-term construction cycle, complicated construction techniques, high-risk, and huge losses in the case of a failed project. For this reason, it is of great practical significance to do feasibility research on a thermoelectric project, which can make investment scientific, reasonable, and economically beneficial. Based on in-depth investigations and surveys, the thesis has obtained a great deal of reliable first-hand data. After that, it assesses and expounded the project in details by combing theories and practice. The argument of specific details is in strict accordance with the relevant provisions on project feasibility researches by the State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Construction. The thesis contains three parts. The first part expounds the background and significance of the research and summarizes the research status at home and abroad. In the second part, the author introduces the background and necessity of the project in the first place, followed by a comprehensive, in-depth analysis of its techniques, economical efficiency and risks; it is aimed at an overall assessment of the feasibility of the project. The third part is the conclusion, presenting the results of the feasibility study. In a word, through the feasibility research on an expansion project of#7Boilers of JS Thermoelectric Company, the thesis manages to find out the general methods to study the feasibility of thermoelectric projects, which can be viewed as an example for other similar projects.
