As an important carrier of social and economic sustainable development, energy and power industry have faced the pressures of energy conservation and emissions reduction, energy depletion and efficiency, reliability and of power deployment and supply unprecedented, but the micro grid technology has brought a solution to the problem above. Micro-grid, characterized by many advantages such as economy and green has become an growing trend of power grid construction in the21st century, it is a new kind of power supply type, not only suitable for new energy, but also gives the user more rights of choice and supervision, so the significance is obviously for energy structure, energy utilization and sustainable development.As a new form of power supply and distribution, no country at present stage can get the proven technique of micro grid, majority of countries including our country have increased budgetary allocations for this work, but with the high costs and the risk of relatively immature technologies, simulation has become an important technical measure in research and design field of micro grid. Research has built a model of Micro-grid system powered by wind and hydro using Matlab/Simulink to simulate and analyze, experimental conclusions not only proves the model’s feasibility and control method’s validity, but also provides support of basic model building for subsequent intensive researches. Specific content as follows:(1) Discussing the background and significance of micro grid research preliminary and introduce the development and research trends of micro grid at home and abroad.(2) Describing the basic concept and principle of micro grid and distributed generation (DG) and briefly lists some common DG and several pivotal control strategy of micro grid.(3) Analysing the small hydropower and wind turbine system and built models of small hydro and wind power on the platform of Matlab/Simulink.(4) Basing on the existing theories and models, built a model of micro-grid system powered by wind and hydro using Matlab/Simulink to simulate and analyze the experimental data under different conditions.(5) Summary and prospect.
