Pyrrolin-4-ones and its derivatives are very important five membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, which are commonly encountered in natural products, industrial materials, and the special pharmacological activity organic molecules. Pyrrolin-4-ones have the active characteristics owing to the carbonyl group and a double bond in its molecular, so it can be used to construct some other valuable pyrrolidone, pyrrolidine and pyrrole by the simple reduction, addition, elimination.As the deeply studying of the subtle role of the pinacol and alpha-ketol rearrangement reaction in the chemical conversion. Recently, metal-catalyzed tandem cyclization reaction from simple substrate for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds have been reported. In this respect, the inexpensive copper as a catalyst were most popular. However, copper catalyzed enamine/amide condensation cyclization for the synthesis of heterocyclic compound have not been reported. In this paper, we report an innovative copper-catalyzed enamino amides tandem cyclization for synthesis of pyrrolin-4-ones, which accompanying1,2-alkyl migration in this process.This article will focus on the theme and carry out related research. First, the synthesis methods of pyrrolin-4-ones have been briefly reviewed. Secondly, we discuss the enamine compounds in constructing of different heterocycle systematically, with the indepth thinking of1,2-alkyl migration reaction mechanism. Finally, we study the intramolecular tandem cyclization reaction of enamine amides by control the solvent, oxidants, additives, and so on. Therefore, it is important to synthesize pyrrolin-4-ones via copper-catalyzed oxidative cyclization/1,2-alkyl migration under mild conditions.
