Firstly, this thesis tries to find out the revolutionary changes in Chinese modern history byanalyzing the transformation of the modern clothing. It analyses the development ofChinese aesthetic standard that from a conserved one to a more open one. Secondly it triesto argue that modern Chinese women gradually freed themselves from the taboos of thefeudal ideology by the impact of the western culture. Finally it reveals the transformationof the clothing in China’s modernization process, in term of ideology, style, and thecombination of the western tailor technique and eastern characteristics. In short, modernChinese clothing is a transformation process from flat pattern to three-dimensionalpattern. |
