In this paper, the types, distribution characteristics, forming model and otherissues of large scale landslide in Qinghai Province are revolved, and on the basis oflarge amounts of data of the tectonic evolution, development process history of theupper reaches of Yellow River, some spatial and temporal characteristics of large scalelandslides are studied. In addition, four main causes of landslides mode and threetypical large scale landslides are summarized and studied in details. The main resultsobtained are as follows:1. The topographic and geologic conditions in Qinghai are very complex, largescale landslides disasters are very strongly serious affected by above. According to thegeological survey analysis, there are155large scale landslides disasters in QinghaiProvince, the main types are loess landslide, mudstone landslide, rock landslides andaccumulation layer landslide.2. There are131large scale landslides disasters distributed in the upper reachesof Yellow River, which accounted for84.5%of total numbers. Therefore, the upperreach of Yellow River is the most developed region of large scale landslides disasters.3. The distribution characteristics of large scale landslides disasters controlled bythe topography, tectonic stress, lithological and structural characteristics of the inlandriver. And the triggering factors are human economic engineering activities, precipitation, and earthquake.4. There are four main forming models of the landslides in the study area, whichare pushing mode, pulling mode, traction mode and composite scattered mode.5. Three typical cases stability evaluation of large scale landslides are carried out,and the results of stability evaluation show that, the Badashan landslide is in anunstable state, the back trailing margin of Shengguotan landslide is in less stable stateand the Phoenix Mountain landslide is in less stable-unstable state.
